Just received possession of your new flat? Planning before work starts saves time, money and rework. Use this checklist before you begin your interiors.

Before design
- Get the floor plan and measure every room
- List every room’s purpose – guest room, study, kids’ room?
- Decide your priorities – kitchen and wardrobes usually come first
- Set a budget range and what can wait for later
- Collect reference photos of styles you like and dislike
Technical checks
- Electrical points – TV wall, bedside, kitchen appliances, AC and inverter
- Plumbing – kitchen sink, RO and washing machine positions
- Check for dampness or leakage before furniture goes in
- Confirm society rules on work hours and material movement
Design decisions
- Storage – wardrobes, lofts, shoe rack, utility storage
- Lighting and false ceiling – plan before furniture
- Kitchen layout and finishes – the most-used space in the home
Tip
Even if you are doing interiors in phases, design the whole flat once. Later rooms will match, and wiring and points will already be in the right places.
